With an extensive international career as a performer, recording artist, and teacher, Dr. Coelho brings decades of professional experience to each lesson. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where he earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree studying with Julius Baker and Ransom Wilson, he has performed, taught, and presented masterclasses throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. His commitment to teaching has been recognized with the UNC Board of Governors Excellence in Teaching Award and the UNCSA Excellence in Teaching Award.
Professional Instruction—Wherever You Are
Online lessons make it possible to receive individualized instruction regardless of where you live. Dr. Coelho has taught students across the United States and internationally, including students in Texas, California, Virginia, Taiwan, Japan, and Brazil. Distance does not need to be an obstacle to high-level musical study—we can connect from virtually anywhere in the world.
Lessons are live and interactive, allowing us to see, hear, communicate, and work together in real time. Instruction is tailored to each student’s individual needs and may include tone development, technique, intonation, repertoire, orchestral excerpts, audition and competition preparation, performance practice, musical interpretation, and strategies for more effective practicing.
Online lessons are available to advanced high school and college students, graduate students, professional musicians, teachers, and serious adult flutists seeking to further develop their playing and musicianship.
